BARFOLD GIN - THE TASTE
On the nose you will notice a sweet pleasant citrus scent followed by juniper, pine, lemon and spice in the background. The flavour is initially spice forward, followed by some delicate fresh notes. These are then replaced with bold spice flavours and an intense peppery finish. Barfold Gin is quite complex and as it opens up, it will reveal more aspects of the spirit.
THE DISTILLING PROCESS
To begin the age-old practice of distilling, we use a base wheat spirit that is very clean and consistent. This is diluted with our country rainwater and put directly into our pot still, along with our hand-selected botanicals. Once the still reaches boiling point the magic starts to happen, vapours rise and start to release the flavours of the juniper and other botanicals. The vapours condense as they pass through the still, refining and purifying the spirit. You can smell and taste the wonderful botanicals as the spirit leaves the still. We then cut the gin with clean, pure rainwater, then rest it for two weeks to allow for stabilisation before bottling. Once bottled, we hand apply our labels (hopefully straight) and we package with care. All you have to do is open the bottle and enjoy!
